Golden Gate Bridge Tower Model Orange
Princeton University Professor George E. Beggs was commissioned by the Golden Gate Bridge and Highway District to test the complex design of the 746-foot tall Bridge towers using a 1/56 scale stainless steel model. The model was used to analyze the vertical, transverse, and longitudinal loads by calculating stresses, strains, and deflections from wind and earthquakes. The findings confirmed that the tower design was sound!
